A Travellerspoint blog

Last leg....Last post...but not the last trip

56 days, 4 Continents, 16 Countries, 27 Cities, tons of fun!

Flying from Calgary to Phoenix this morning. Just having breakfast at the Calgary Airport. We have had a great trip, made many new friends and found new places we cannot wait to return to. It was so fun sharing our trip with you all. I think we only missed a couple of days. Already working on the next trip. Sneak peek, we will be going east beginning in early April, likely another 6-8 weeks. My goal is to get back to Monaco for the Formula 1 race in late May! We will see if we can swing that. Might even do another blog.

Only one pic today. Cheers from Jan and I, can't wait to see you all!! Thanks for tagging along with us.

Calgary is in Alberta, not in B.C., my bad

Great Diamondbacks win!

Got settled into The Dorian Hotel in Downtown Calgary. Beautiful city, much larger than I thought. At nearly 1.5 million people it's the 3rd largest city in Canada. Maybe the cleanest of all the cities we've visited. A side note, there are twin sisters that work in the lobby bar. They are from Odessa, Ukraine. They fled Ukraine a month after the war started and drove with their 4 generation family to France. Their parents, brother and his family and grandmother remain in France. The twins came to Canada when the Canadiens opened a visa program for displaced Ukrainians. The girls are about 20. Sad to hear their story, but they are cheerful and spirited. We will be seeing them again today.

After dinner we planned to get to bed early, we were worn out by the travel and the 7 hour time change. But the Dbacks game kept us up. Ended up being a 22 hour day, but we are well rested now. Plans for the day include college football in a local pub, and the Dbacks tonight.

Just a couple of pics today. Calgary Airport & downtown from the plane, and welcome treats from the hotel.

Home tomorrow!

Goodbye Europe, Hello Canada!

Quick overnight stop in London, now in the air to Calgary

Quick report, travel day today with a 9 hour flight from London to Clagary on the Dreamliner. Nice digs! Got the typical cold rainy London, and happy for a short stay in Calgary, with cold and snow on the way there!! Can't wait for that AZ sunshine.

A pic as we departed London and a screenshot of the tablet on the plane with the Calgary forecast....

Be home Sunday!

Back on the Ferry!

Short trip from Formentera to Ibiza then on to London

30 minute ferry ride back to Ibiza and a 2.5 hour flight to London as we work our way home. Had a fun afternoon on the beach yesterday, got a whole sea bass lunch at El Pirata, we were a little afraid of it but it was delicious. We visited Queen Burger (local Formentera restaurant/pub) twice and were served each time by Silvia, pic attached. A wonderful young lady who is now our friend along with all the servers, drivers, bartenders etc that we've met on this trip. I've added 20 of them on Whatsapp, and they follow our blog! New friends around the world on four continents (making plans to get to the other 3). Have a good Thursday!!!

Formentera was a good add to our trip

Small is size but a beautiful island

Wikipedia: Formentera is the smallest and most southerly island of the Pityusic Islands group (comprising Ibiza and Formentera, as well as various small islets), which belongs to the Balearic Islands autonomous community (Spain). It covers an area of 83.24 square kilometres (32.14 sq mi) (including offshore islets) and had a population of 10,582 at the Census of 1 November 2011, and 11,891 at the Census of 1 January 2021.

Took the ferry from Ibiza to Formentera, the only way to visit the island. Explored the beach bars yesterday, some are closed as low season starts now thru May 1. BTW, no beer is better than that from a frozen hand painted terra cotta cup, see the pic! We found a great little boutique hotel, Five Flowers. More beach time today, then back to London for a night tomorrow, then the 9 hour flight to Calgary, BC on Friday. Will spend Fri and Sat in Calgary, and home in time to see the Cardinals kickoff on Sunday. Sad the trip is nearing the end, but very excited to be home soon! It's been quite a trip! Still a few days of fun remain.
